'Buddha Bihar set on fire in Khagrachhari'

A Buddha Bihar was set on fire in the early morning of yesterday, said Zila Nagorik Committee and United People's Democratic Front (UPDF) in separate press releases.They alleged that a group of people set fire to the Aranya Kuthir (Buddha Bihar) at 255 No Maischhari under Mohalchhari upazila in the district. Nagorik Committee and UPDF expressed concern over the matter and demanded punishment to the culprits. Aranya Kuthir was built on a disputed land as a Bangalee settler Joynal Abedin claimed the ownership of the land. On June 10, Mohalchhari UNO urged both sides not to take any move till a final decision is made. No comment was found from the district administration about the incident.
