Ten alleged Indian insurgents are believed to have been killed in a joint raid by the army and Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) on a remote dense forest at Baghaichhari in Rangamati yesterday, according to a primary report. Director General of Rab MA Aziz Sarkar confirmed last night that the army and Rab launched the joint drive about 20 to 25 kilometres north of Baghaichhari upazila. "An operation was conducted by the army and Rab in the morning, but we are yet to get any confirmed report about how many people are dead or how many weapons were recovered," Aziz told The Daily Star at 9:45pm. "We have no contact with the raiding forces as the area is very remote," said Aziz. "It will take at least two and a half hours for the forces to reach Baghaichhari upazila sadar and the communication network."
