'Outlaw' killed in 'crossfire'

A member of Purba Banglar Communist Party (PBCP) Red Flag faction was killed in 'crossfire' between Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) and his accomplices at Terokhada of Sathia upazila in Pabna yesterday.Abdul Dayen also known as Bolai Mistiri, 45, was arrested at Harianpur in Pabna on Tuesday afternoon. A Rab press release claimed during interrogation he had confessed to Rab about his involvement in several murders. Following his information, a Rab team went to Terokhada with him in the early hours of yesterday to arrest his accomplices and retrieving hidden arms. As they reached Terokhada, Bolai's accomplices started firing on the Rab team forcing them to retaliate. During the gunfight Bolai tried to escape custody and was caught in the line of fire, Rab claimed. On duty doctors declared fatally wounded Bolai dead when he was rushed to Pabna Sadar Hospital. Rab men recovered a shutter gun, two bullets from the spot. Bolai's accomplices however managed to escape. The Rab press release said Bolai was accused in nine cases for murder and other criminal cases.
