The body of housewife Shrabonti Khatun was exhumed yesterday following a court order after over three months of her burial at Dorgapara graveyard in Shahzadpur Pourasava in Sirajganj district. The body was exhumed in presence of first class magistrate Md Mahbubur Rahman Patowari and Ashraful Islam and Officer-in-Charge of Shahzadpur police station. The OC was the investigation officer (IO) of the case filed by the victim's family earlier alleging that she was murdered by her husband. The body was sent to Sirajganj General Hospital morgue for a fresh autopsy. The autopsy report will be submitted to authorities concerned in a few days, said Dr Abdul Awal, RMO, of the hospital. Shrabonti Khatun, 20, was married to Fazale Rabbi, 22, of Andar Kotapura village in the district on November 29, 2003. In the case Shrabonti's father Ayub Ali of Mahmupur in Sirajganj town alleged that her daughter was murdered by her husband for dowry. Fazale Rabbi took her to Adar Kotapara village on November 12 to celebrate Eid. She was strangled there two days later, the complainant alleged. After her death, Shrabonti's in-laws claimed that she committed suicide. Meanwhile, several hundred people brought out a procession in Shahzadpur town and laid a siege to the police station yesterday demanding arrest and punishment to the killers.
