Two robbed of cash, gold worth Tk 4.30 lakh


Two people, including a Bangladeshi expatriate, were robbed of cash and gold worth Tk 4.30 lakh by two gangs of criminals known as 'Agyan party'.

Nazrul Islam, 25, flew in Dhaka from Dubai on Sunday night and spent the night at the airport. In the morning, he hired a microbus to go to Brahmanbaria.

When the microbus reached the roundabout near the airport, the driver and his helper offered him a carton of mango juice. He lost consciousness soon after drinking the juice.

The criminals then left him at a place in Jatrabari. He regained consciousness after local people rushed him to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH).

The victim told reporters that he was carrying cash and gold worth about Tk 3.5 lakh with him, but the criminals took away all.

In another incident, Sheikh Muhammad Mohsin, 35, was coming from Munshiganj to Dhaka for business purposes. He bought a carton of mango juice from vendors in the bus. But he fainted after drinking the juice.

Staffs of the bus sent Mohsin to DMCH in an unconscious state. When he regained consciousness, he found that Tk 80,000 he was carrying is missing.
