Hands in the wrong place

Werder Bremen midfielder Johan Micoud is at the centre of a German football federation (DFB) investigation after allegedly grabbing the genitals of an opposing player.

The DFB said in a Monday statement: "After watching television images of the Bremen versus Schalke 04 match, Johan Micoud is suspected of using his left hand to seize the genitals of Schalke player Christian Poulsen.

"This incident constitutes serious, unsporting behaviour."

The DFB has asked both players to provide them with written versions of the incident which occurred after half an hour of Sunday's 0-0 draw.

The referee did not see the alleged aggression by the 32-year-old French international who has played at Bremen since 2002.
