Popular talk show scores 1000


Grameen Phone Tritio Matra, a popular daily talk show currently running on Channel i, features discussions on contemporary issues. The show gained popularity because of its distinctive dialogue format. It was first aired on July 17, 2003. The show specialises in dialogues with leading personalities.

The TV show celebrated its milestone 1000th episode on April 11. This was announced at a press conference on April 16, held at Hotel Purbani International. Communications Minister Barrister Nazmul Huda; presidium member of Bangladesh Awami League, Abdur Razzak; president of Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JSD), Hasanul Huque Inu; vice chairman of Bangladesh Bar Council, Barrister Rokon Uddin Mahmud; general secretary of Jatiya Party (JP), Sheikh Shahidul Islam; political secretary of JP, Kazi Feroz Rashid; Major general (Retd) Syed Muhammed Ibrahim (Bir Protik) and chairman of Bangladesh Political Science Samity, Dr Atatur Rahman participated in the discussion. Reporters from several national dailies attended the event as well.

The discussion focused on the current political situation in the country and some hard-hitting issues such as Kansat killing, prevalent corruption, political tolerance between the government and the opposition, democratic practices and the upcoming general election.

Zillur Rahman, who directs and hosts the talk show, spoke about the elaborate research that accounts for the success of the talk show.

"Tritio Matra should be a catalyst in changing peoples' perspective and generating awareness," said Faridur Reza Shagor, managing director of Impress Telefilm Limited.

The show is aired everyday at 1:00am and 9:50am.
