14 hurt as cops, gamblers clash in Netrakona

Ten gamblers and four policeman were injured in a clash at Monkanda Bazar under Kendua upazila Sunday night.Local people said gamblers in the area were running a ring at Monkanda Bazar for a long time by giving monthly share to Kendua police. When police Sunday night went to Monkanda Bazar for their monthly share, the gamblers told them to take the money the next day. A discord climaxed between police and gamblers and at one stage police charged baton on the gamblers. The gamblers launched counter attack on the police with lethal weapons in which four policemen and 10 gamblers were injured. The injured policemen are SI Pulok, Constable Ibrahim, constable Ali Hossen and ASI Ali Hossen.
