Sirajganj Reporters' Unity and Sangbadik Samity jointly brought out a procession in the town and held a rally at Bazar Station point to protest the police attack in Chittagong.

The processionists paraded the main roads wearing black badges, our Sirajganj Correspondent reported.

The speakers at the rally demanded immediate punishment to the attackers and asked the authorities to ensure security to all journalists in the country.

Khulna Union of Journalists (KUJ) yesterday brought out a procession to protest the barbaric police attack on journalists.

Our Staff Correspondent in Khulna said, a protest rally was also held on the press club compound. Speakers at the rally demanded exemplary punishment to the policemen involved in the assault on journalists. Khulna Metropolitan Union of Journalists (KMUJ) in a statement also condemned the police attack.

Bogra Union of Journalists (BUJ) and Bogra Reporters' Forum (BRF) jointly organised a meeting at BRF auditorium to protest police action on the journalists in Chattagong, reports our Bogra correspondent.

Condemning the police atrocity they demanded withdrawal of Deputy Police Commissioner (DC) Ali Akbar and punishment to the members of the law-enforcing agencies responsible for the incident.

Our Correspondent from Nilphamari adds: The journalists community here severely condemned the shameful atrocity of police at Chittagong stadium.

They brought out a procession from the press club and paraded the streets of the town chanting different slogans.

Later at a meeting at the press club the speakers demanded exemplary punishment to the police officials including CMP DC Ali Akbar.

They also threatened further agitation programme if the culprits go unpunished.

The leaders of local units of journalists unions at the rally termed the police force as 'cadres' of the coalition government. They condemned the attack and demanded punishment to the culprits.

Journalists in Netrakona also brought out a protest procession in the town demanding punishment to the policemen who attacked the on-duty journalists at Chittagong.

Journalists in Brahmanbaria held a protest meeting at the local press club. Condemning the attack on newsmen, they demanded punishment to the culprits.

Our Jessore Correspondent adds: Jessore district unit of Photo-journalists' Association brought out a protest procession in the town.

In a statement, the union condemned the police attack on journalists in Chittagong and demanded exemplary punishment to the attackers.

Our Satkhira Correspondent reports: Journalists of different national, regional and local dailies here held a meeting and demanded arrest and punishment to the law enforcers involved in the incident.

They threatened to launch tougher agitation programmes if the culprits were not brought to book immediately.
