The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of police yesterday grilled BD Foods Limited Managing Director Badrul Haider Choudhury about his alleged involvement in smuggling 75kg heroin to the UK.During the two-hour quizzing at the CID office the investigators asked him to state his and his company's annual incomes, tax and business identification numbers. They also asked him to hand over all documents on the company's clearing and forwarding agents, details and documents about shippers and consignors, and export-related bank documents. They will interrogate him again and take all necessary legal measures against the company after getting the papers, investigators said. King & Company, a sister concern of BD Foods Limited, is one of the five business set-ups whom the UK customs accused of heroin trafficking. The four other companies are Messrs Emdad Trading, Messrs MM Enterprise, Messrs Jamil International and Green Haven. The investigators asked Badrul to explain why his company had not followed all the legal procedures in exporting goods and produced fake documents. Badrul, however, persistently denied BD Foods' involvement in the smuggling. Meanwhile, the CID also has recommended filing case against Green Haven after its investigations found the company's involvement in the international drug trafficking. CID sources said their investigation found the owner of Green Haven, Abul Bashar, smuggled 54kg heroin to the UK in collaboration with Altaf Hossain Bhuiyan, owner of AR Haque Trading Corporation.
