Promising radio and TV singers rendered songs of yesteryears in a musical soiree titled Fele Asha Diner Gaan, arranged by Srijon. Singers Sushmita Saha, Nadia Ferdaus Nimmi, Meer Ahmed Newaz, Papia Naznin, Abdur Rashid, Farzana Mili and Abu Bakar Siddiqui rendered songs on January 28 at Begum Sufia Kamal Auditorium, National Museum. Novelist Selima Rahman was the chief guest while singer Rafiqul Alam and Abdur Razzaq, the deputy secretary of the Ministry of Cultural Affairs, were the special guests of the programme. Srijon arranges musical evenings on the last Saturday of the month. The musical soiree featured popular kabyageety, Lalon songs, Tagore songs and Nazrul songs. The rendition of songs by young talents-- Nadia Ferdaus Nimmi, Farzana Mili and Meer Ahmed Newaz-- was impressive. Farzana Mili rendered Nazrul's Nohe Nohe Priyo, Lalon's Tin Pagole Holo Mela and adhunik gaan-- Ei Prithibir pore. Meer Ahmed Newaz presented Manna De's popular song Rangini Kato Mon. Nadia Ferdaus Nimmi's presentation of Mone mone shey janina moved the audience. Other songs rendered by Nimmi were Kanchan kanchan pahar and Dukkha amar. Folk singer Abu Bakar Siddiqui gave an exceptional performance. He presented popular folk songs such as Premer Mora Jole Dubena and Shujan Naiya. His stentorian rendition of the folk songs was a major attraction.
