Silver Jubilee of Nijera Kori
Cultural Correspondent
NGO Nijera Kori celebrated its 25 years with a two-day cultural programme held at The Rabindra Sarobar Stage, Dhanmondi Lake, beginning from January 27. The programme was divided in three parts: street play, peoples' song and poter gaan (a genre of narrative folk song). Members of the organisation performed to a receptive audience. The organisation has been working in Bangladesh since 1980, with its offices in Dhaka and its impact areas located in the remote districts. Nijera Kori is a movement to generate awareness, from the individual to the collective level, relating to life in different perspectives, encompassing social, economic and political aspects.
