Appeal for help

Abir Mahmud, a student of standard one at the city's Biam Laboratory School, has been suffering from cancer for last few months.

He was already treated at the hospitals in Kolkata and Mumbai in India where he underwent a surgery in his cancer-affected tumour on his throat and nose.

But doctors at Apollo Hospitals in Kolkata advised the guardians of Abir to take him to Singapore or Hong Kong for better treatment in last December when his condition started to deteriorate again.

Abir is now undergoing treatment at Ahsania Mission Cancer Hospital in the city.

On inquiry, Abir's parents came to know that Tk 10 lakh is needed for his treatment.

But as a low-income service-holder they cannot afford it.

It may be mentioned that they have already spent Tk 14 lakh for the treatment of their child.

So, Abir's parents have made fervent appeal to all to extend generous help to save the life of their only son.

Contributions can be sent to following address: Bibhor Aktar (Abir's mother), Savings Account No 8690, Sonali Bank, Moghbazar Branch, Dhaka or can contact them over phone 8361185, 0175-833045.

But his family is unable to afford the expenses and therefore appealed to people for generous help.
