Jamaat statement on Star editor's commentary
Central publicity wing secretary of Jamaat-e-Islami Prof Md Tasnim Alam, in a statement sent to The Daily Star yesterday, has claimed that a commentary by the editor of the daily published on November 27 under the headline 'Eureka ... The real culprit has been found!' contained misleading information.

The statement alleged that The Daily Star had published unfounded reports on more than one occasion in the past and by repeating that again it tried to mislead the people.

Referring to the allegation of some militants' Jamaat-links, Tasnim Alam claimed that Jamaat had in past protested the reports regarding Jamaat-Shibir links of Bangla Bhai, Montezar and Sohel.

He recalled that Jamaat had disclaimed such links in the past also by issuing rejoinders and urged the author of the commentary to refrain from misleading the people by publishing such commentaries.

The statement criticised what it dubbed the attempt to denigrate Jamaat Ameer Motiur Rahman Nizami by the satirical tone of the commentary.
