The New Shobuj Opera reaches 100
Last night, mega-serial The New Shobuj Opera crossed its 100th episode mark. The TV serial features the struggles of jatra artistes. Adapted from Mamunur Rashid's concept, Brindaban Das is the script writer of the serial.

On the serial's story line, director Mamunur Rashid said, "So far we have shown the problems that indigenous artistes face from the local musclemen in the course of staging a jatra pala. Other important facets are professional jealousy and scandals within the troupe."

There have been issues within the jatra troupe in the serial. Subsequently the artistes of the troupe are exploring different avenues to bring in the bread and butter. These developments mark a turning point of the serial, says Mamun.

What's next? Mamun says, "It is difficult to say at the moment, but we hope to run the serial till the 1000th episode."

ATN Bangla airs The New Shobuj Opera on Saturdays and Sundays at 8:30 pm.
