Hearing of Mig29 graft case against Hasina Nov 23

The High Court yesterday fixed November 23 for hearing the corruption cases filed against former prime minister Sheikh Hasina in purchasing Mig-29s.

Following the hearing of a time petition filed on behalf of the opposition leader Hasina, a division bench of the High Court comprising Justice Sharifuddin Chaklader and Justice AFM Ali Asgar fixed the date.

The corruption cases regarding the purchase of Mig-29s were filed with Tejgaon Police Station on December 11, 2001 against Hasina and others including Dr SA Samad who was then principal secretary to the prime minister.

In the statement of the case, Hasina and others were accused of causing a loss of Tk 720 crore in the purchase while they were in power.

Barrister Rokanuddin Mahmud, advocate Mahbubey Alam, advocate Awsafur Rahman and advocate Mesbauddin Ahmed moved for the petitioner before the court.
