Terrorist attacks remind Obaid of 1971 killing of intellectuals

BNP standing committee member KM Obaidur Rahman told parliament yesterday that the recent spate of terrorist attacks on judges and journalists reminded him of the killing of intellectuals prior to the independence of the country.

"The recent killings of journalists and judges remind me of the killing of intellectuals in the country before the independence in 1971," he said on a point of order. "We all are very afraid."

Obaid said he hoped and believed that the prime minister would be able to ensure security for all the people of the country, not only judges and journalists.
