Monga to go if AL voted to power
Promises Hasina
Bdnews, Lalmonirhat
Awami League (AL) President and Opposition Leader Sheikh Hasina yesterday urged people to vote for the AL in the next general elections to save the country from corruption and terrorism. "The alliance government has established the rule of corruption and terrorism instead of democracy," she said while addressing a number of public meetings in Lalmonirhat district yesterday. Hasina said the ruling party leaders are busy looting the wealth of the country, leaving thousands people in starvation. People have seen three terms of BNP and AL governments after stepping into democracy in 1991 and they will judge who can run the country better, she said. "If the people voted the Awami League to power again, monga must be eliminated," she assured the people of the monga-hit northern region. The AL chief said the coalition government could not do anything for the welfare of the people except presenting corruption, terrorism and monga like situation. She criticised the ministers of the alliance government for their rampant corruption. "The World Bank has withdrawn its fund due to corruption...it is very unfortunate for us," she added. Hasina said people will recover the money looted by the ministers. She also accused the government of the August 17 serial bomb blasts.
