Trader slaughtered, fraud lynched in Ctg

A trader was slaughtered at Pahartali on Friday while angry mob lynched an alleged fraud and injured another at Hathazari in Chittagong on Thursday.

The dead was identified as Mohammed Hossain, 40, a real state trader and son of one Abdus Salam.

Sources said some friends of Hossain took him out from his house at Colonel Hat area under on Eid Day evening.

The family members found his body on a van near their house the following morning.

Relatives said Hossain had some disputes with his business partners over the sale of a land behind the Eagle Textile at Sitakunda.

The murder could be a sequel to that enmity, they suspected.

Hossain's father had filed a murder case in this connection.

Meanwhile, angry mob lynched an alleged fraud and injured another one at Khandakia under Hathazari Police Station in the district on Thursday.

The dead was identified as Rabiul Hossen, 25, and the injured as Monir Ahmed, 28.

Sources said Rabiul and Monir went to a house of one Sakina Begum at Khandakia at around 12:30pm on the day.

They told the lady that they could cure her diseases with their spiritual power if she pays them Tk.2,000 and one tola gold.

Sakina believed them and handed over the money and gold as per their demand.

But as they were trying to escape without treating her she suspected them as fraud and started screaming for help.

The neighbours rushed to the scene and caught the frauds and beat them mercilessly.

Rabiul died on the spot while his accomplice Monir was injured critically.

He was admitted to Chittagong Medical College and Hospital.

Two cases were filed with Hathazari Police Station in this regard.
