Cultural programme by BAFA

To observe the 64th death anniversary of Rabindranath Tagore, Bulbul Lalitokala Academy (BAFA) held a cultural programme titled, Shango Jobey Hobey Dhorar Pala at the BAFA Auditorium, Waizeghat yesterday.The programme started at 11am and Amanullah Chowdhury, secretary of BAFA apologised for the delay as the event was supposed to start at 10am. Chowdhury said in his brief speech, "This programme is a homage to Tagore by the students and teachers of BAFA." Students from all three sections of BAFA -- Waizeghat, Dhandmondi and Motijheel, performed at the event. A chorus rendition by students of the Waizeghat section, Tomar osheem-e pranmon loye started the main event, followed by Aro aro prabhu. They also performed Diner belaye banshi tomar and Kano rey ei duartuku. Students of the Dhanmondi section rendered Tomar duar kholar dhwani, Borisho dhora majhey shantiro bari, Amar khela jokhon chhilo and Gaan-er shur-er ashonkhani. Students of the Motijheel section performed Shomukhey shanti parabaar, Agun-er poroshmoni, Ebar dukkho amar and Kon alotey pran-er prodeep. Two dance numbers were performed with Shorbo khorbo tarey dohey and Jani jani go din jabey by students of the Waizeghat section. Khondokar Khairuzzaman Qayyum, Mahfuza Hasna Mala and Sarwar Hossain Babu were in charge of music direction. Farhana Chowdhury, Anik Basu and Abdur Rahman were in charge of dance direction.
