Concert at BUET
Miles turns 25

Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET), batch '01, hosted an unplugged concert titled Shah Cement Excitement on August 11. The performers of the evening were musical groups Miles and Pentagon.

The venue was thronged with music lovers. The concert started at 8pm and continued till 11pm. The sound system was powerful and laser lights added to the attraction.

Pentagon started with their popular number Ushno abegey. The acoustic version of the song seemed to strike a chord with many. The band then performed two English numbers, Could you be loved and I want to break free followed by Bangladesh and Shangshoy. The audience went wild as the band started performing a very catchy number, Ketchup. The audience sang along with the band. The last song I will survive was appreciated as well.

After a short break, one of leading bands in our country, Miles started their performance. Incidentally Miles is celebrating their silver jubilee in the music arena this year. The band has attained a strong fan following in Bangladesh as well as the Bangladeshi communities overseas. Miles has some special attractions planned to celebrate their 25 years in music.

The band jammed for a while and then started off with Dhiki dhiki. Miles performed Back to you of Brian Adams, Best of my love of Eagles, Walk of life of Dire Straits, Every breath you take of Sting and the evergreen number of Eagles, Hotel California. Other English classics performed by Miles at the concert were With or without you of U2, Break on through to the other side of The Doors and Knocking on heaven's door of Guns N' Roses. A widely known Buker gobhir-e tumi shudhu tumi was next. The audience seemed to enjoy this romantic number and went wild when the band started performing Chand tara shurjo nao tumi. The outstanding performance by Miles came to an end with Phiriye dao.

"All in all, the musical extravaganza was a commendable effort by the batch '01 of BUET. Unplugged music for over three hours did not deter the audience from asking for more," said one of the organisers, Manzur.
