Tigers start training tomorrow

After a 21-day break, the Bangla-desh cricket team will get back to business tomorrow to prepare for their next assignment against Sri Lanka in August-September.

The Tigers, who returned from England on July 3, will start training at the Bangladesh Army Stadium with coach Dav Whatmore in sight of an acid test at a place where he was born.

But Bangladesh captain Habibul Bashar and opener Javed Omar are unlikely to join the camp on the first day as both are scheduled to return home from the United States on the same day after enjoying holidays with their families.

Bashar's family informed that he would be returning on July 25 although the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) earlier said that he was expected to be back by July 23.

The Faruque Ahmed-led selection committee had earlier announced a 23-member preliminary squad for the three-match one-day and two-match Test series against Sri Lanka but Whatmore will get only 13 players as ten cricketers are now touring England with the Bangladesh A team.

In the first week cricketers will take part in the fitness sessions while nets will start at the newly built Mirpur Indoor Stadium from July 31.

The team will fly to Sri Lanka on August 25.
