Dhaka City Corporation constructed the terminal at a cost of over Tk 8.71 crore.

The work started on April 30, 2001 and was completed on June 30, 2004.

Meanwhile, the improvement work of three inter-district bus terminals at Sayedabad, Mohakhali and Gabtoli is still going on.
