Zia going great guns

Reefat bin Sattar returned to winning track after three games but Grand Master Ziaur Rahman still maintained solo lead in the University of Greenwich FIDE Rating Chess tournament after the sixth round yesterday.

International Master Reefat, whose hope to gain the desired rating points to notch the Grand Master title is all but shattered, moved to third position with four points after beating Mohammad Javed at the NSC conference room.

Zia won his sixth round board against IM Enamul Hossain Rajib to stay on top with 5.5 points.

FIDE Master Mehdi Hasan Parag stunned IM Abdullah Al-Rakib to follow the leader with five points.

In B Group, Nazir Salehin took solo lead securing maximum six points, followed by Nure Alam in second position with 5.5 points.
