Rahmatganj closing in on title


Having confirmed their Premiership berth at the end of the previous round, Rahmatganj Muslim Friends Society came within sight of clinching the First Division Football League title when they drubbed Victoria Sporting Club 4-0 in a 12th round tie at the Birshreshtha Shaheed Mostafa Kamal Stadium in Kamalapur yesterday.

Zakir scored twice while Mehdi and Mithu added the rest for Rahmatganj who beat Victoria 1-0 in the first leg.

With two more rounds to go, Rahmatganj were leading the table with 29 points while Victoria, also in contention for promotion to the Premier League, remained at third place on 21.

Badda Jagarani, on 23 points after 11 matches, also look forward to return to the Premiership. Three first division sides will play in next year's Premier League.
