The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) struck a two-year deal with Pakistani sports manufacturer Ishan Sports yesterday. As part of the agreement, which will run until the 2007 World Cup, Ishan will provide all kinds of apparels to the national team including Bangladesh A team, Under-19, Under-17 and Under-15 teams. BCB advisor and cricket operations chairman Mahbub Anam informed this at a press conference and said that it was a big deal considering their previous association with AJ, which had only supplied clothes to the national side. "The amount is likely to be worth of 80,000 dollars annually. The agreement will help the board use the money for its development programmes," said Mahbub. He also informed that the Pakistani company is aauthorised to sell the replica shirts of the Bangladesh team all over the world and from this BCB would collect royalty money. Ishan will also provide clothes to all coaching staffs in the country. BCB chief executive Macky Dudhia said that the Bangladesh cricket brand was gaining popularity after its recent successes especially the famous victory against Australia. Majid Khan, director of the manufacturing company, said they were looking forward to reaching deals with some individual players. "Ishan had sponsored bats for eight Bangladeshi cricketers during their tour of Pakistan in 2003.So, we are definitely keen on sponsoring a few Bangladeshi players this time as well," he added.
