'Outlaw' killed in 'shootout' with police

An alleged cadre of underground Purba Banglar Communist Party's (PBCP) Janajuddha faction died in an encounter with police in the early hours yesterday.Police said they raided a PBCP hideout in Batpukuria, 20km away from the town, and ran into a hail of bullets at 3:30am. They law enforcers repelled the attack and found Nazrul, 20, dead on the spot. Two constables were injured in the shootout, the police claimed. They said Nazrul, a resident of Durgapur in the sadar upazila, was accused of four criminal charges including two murders. Locals however said Nazrul used to drive a three-wheeler in the area.
