The court also fined the convicts, Tk 1,000 each, in default, to suffer two-month more rigorous imprisonment.

The court acquitted two others.

All the lifers hailed from Ghonapara village of Kasiani upazila in Gopalganj. They are: Rafi Mollah, Jalal Sheikh, Taruf Sheikh, Firoz Sheikh, Idrish sheikh, Farid Sheikh, Rabiul Mollah, Zakir Mollah, Tipu Sheikh, Shahabuddin Mollah, Mamun Mollah, Siraj Mollah, Ayub Mollah, Paltu Sheikh, Fulmia (absconding), Halim Fakir, Lutfar Mollah and Selim Mollah.

According to the prosecution, the convicts attacked Bachchu with sticks and hammer on August 25, 2002 when he was going to Ghonapara bazar from his house and left him critically injured.

Bachchu was taken to a nearby hospital where he succumbed to his injures on the same night.

Examining the witnesses and records, the additional district and session Judge of Gopalganj handed down the verdict.
