Bangladesh protest Nafees dismissal

Bangladesh have made a complaint with the International Cricket Council (ICC) regarding the controversial dismissal of Nafees Iqbal in the second innings of the second and final Test here.

Manager MA Latif, who lodged the complaint to Australian match referee Allan Hurst on Sunday morning, said that England wicketkeeper Geraint Jones has brought the game into disrepute and it was Level 1 offence of the ICC Code of Conduct.

Jones took a catch diving forward off Andrew Flintoff while Nafees was on 15 on the second day. TV replays later showed that the England wicketkeeper had taken it on the bounce.

The hearing took place immediately after the match with the former Australian fast bowler also taking assistance from video replays and a ruling on this issue will be served late on Sunday.

"I did not see the replay. You know the umpire gave him out," was how England captain Michael Vaughan took the incident when asked whether he should have asked the batsmen to return and bat again.

This is the second time Bangladesh made such a complaint after the notorious act of Pakistan wicketkeeper Rashid Latif, who grabbed the ball from the ground and successful appealed for a catch against Alok Kapali during the Multan Test. Latif was subsequently suspended for five ODIs.
