Improved healthcare facilities for slum-dwellers
UNB, Dhaka
Some 60,000 slum-dwellers in the city will be given improved healthcare facilities for next 18 months under a collective healthcare network. The 18-month project, jointly initiated by two NGOs -- Concerned Women for Family Development (CWFD) and ARBAN -- was inaugurated at the CWFD conference hall in the city yesterday. Healthcare facilities, including reproductive and adolescent healthcare, will be provided to the slum people living in abject poverty in eight clinics in the city. "Pregnant women will get special care in order to ensure safe motherhood," the meeting was told. "If any complexity arouse, then the patient would be referred to the hospitals at our own expenditure," said the sponsors.
