Becks to make US appearance


Aston Villa forward Juan Pablo Angel and defenders Ivan Cordoba of Inter Milan and Luis Perea of Atletico Madrid led the Colombian roster named Friday to face England here in a May 31 football friendly.

The match is expected to be England star David Beckham's first US appearance, with Real Madrid teammate Michael Owen set to join him on an English squad that features 19 Premiership players.

Colombian coach Reinaldo Rueda's 22-man roster includes 13 from overseas clubs and nine from the South American nation's domestic league.

England's previously named lineup includes Joe Cole and Glen Johnson from Premiership champion Chelsea, Tottenham's Michael Carrick and Jermain Defoe, Arsenal's Sol Campbell and Ashley Cole and five players from Manchester United.
