Holders Muktijoddha Krira Chakra got off to a flying start in their title defence of the Tibet Federation Cup Football Tournament when they handed a 3-1 defeat on Youngmen's Club Fakirerpool at the Bangabandhu National Stadium on Friday. But another giants Brothers Union were held to a 1-1 by Sheikh Russel Krira Chakra in the day's second encounter under lights. Creative midfielder Arman Mia struck twice and Nigerian striker Paul added one to help the Reds sail past the First Division side after a frustrating 1-2 home defeat against Turkmenistan's Nebitchi FC in the AFC Cup at the same venue on Wednesday. Muktijoddha took a 1-0 lead in the first half through a 17th minute Arman strike. Paul doubled the margin just after the break while Arman struck his second goal in the last quarter of the lop-sided affair. Robin struck the consolation goal for Youngmen's from penalty. In the second match, league champions Brothers Union were forced to share points with Sheikh Russel after the match ended in a 1-1 draw. Abul put the Orange side ahead in the 24th minute but their joy lasted only one minute as Russel's Moroccan midfielder levelled in the 25th minute.
