Miladunnabi observed

Thousands of devotees marched through city streets in jachne juluch processions, while various organisations held milad-mahfil as Eid-e-Miladunnabi, a holy occasion marking the birth and death of Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (SM), was celebrated on Friday.Discussions by Islamic scholars and special prayers were also organised on the occasion observed across the country with due religious fervour. On this day, the 12th of Rabiul Awal on the Hijri calendar, in 570 AD, Muhammad (SM) was born with divine blessings and messages of peace for humankind. He also passed away the same day. The day was a public holiday. All businesses, commercial and private organisations and the press remained closed. Islamic Foundation Bangladesh has chalked out a fortnight-long programme that includes waz-mahfil, Qirat-mahfil, exhibition of Islamic books, and Hamd and na'at. On the occasion, Ashekane Maizbhandari Association held a grand conference, discussion meeting and waz-mahfil at Paltan Maidan in the capital. Anjuman-e Rahmania Mainiya Maizbhandari brought out a grand procession on the Mirpur streets in the city .
