Trapped in intrigue?
Bangladesh is truly trapped in international intrigue, according to a seminar in Dhaka (DS 4/4/). It is neo-colonialism; the United States is initiating the British ghost of the Empire era.

Need for effective local government
Local government is a hotly debated issue in Bangladesh. Union Parishad elections have been held on a regular basis but still UPs are regarded as an ineffective institution.
