Zonta Club helps woman weavers

Some women's voluntary organisations in the country, led by Zonta International Club, have taken an initiative to rehabilitate 200 women Jamdani weavers in Narayangaj, Rupganj and Noapara, who were badly affected by last year's flood.

They distributed pre-fabricated houses, new looms with raw materials , sanitary latrines and other rehabilitation kits to 29 women weavers at a simple function held at Rupaganj recently. Dilruba Ahmed, Governor of Zonta International District 25, attended the function as chief guest.

The rest of the selected 200 affected women will get assistance soon.

Other women's organisations which joined hands in the effort are Women Entrepreneurs Association of Bangladesh, SAARC Women's Association, Project Five-O, Bangladesh Federation of University Women, Inner Wheel Club of Dhaka, Gulshan Ladies Club, National Association for Resource Improvement and Platform to Resist Violence Against Women.
