Zia keeps lead


Grand Master Ziaur Rahman maintained his solo lead in the Mercantile Bank 31st National Chess Championship after the end of the eleventh round at the National Sports Council (NSC) conference room yesterday.

Defending champion Zia beat Hasan Imam to improve his tally to ten points.

Grand Master Niaz Murshed won the board against International Master Abdullah Al-Rakib to keep the second slot with 8.5 points.

International Masters Enamul Hossain Rajib and Reefat Bin Satter secured eight points each after sharing their boards against Mainuddin and FIDE Master Khandokar Aminul Islam respectively.
