Forex worth Tk 38 lakh seized at ZIA

Customs officials at Zia Inter-national Airport (ZIA) on Monday night seized foreign currencies worth over Tk 38 lakh from a Singapore-bound passenger.Tipped off, a team of Customs Intelligence and Investigation department held Monir Hossain, 30, from boarding Bridge no. 2 at 10:45pm. The customs officials found Saudi riyal, pound sterling, Japanese yen, Brunei ringgit and euro worth Tk 38,16,581 in Monir's possession. He was heading for Singapore flight no. SQ-436, said police. Monir was handed over to the airport police yesterday afternoon.
