Militant kingpin Muhammad Asadullah Al Galib was sent to Gaibandha from Dhaka yesterday on completion of his 10-day remand. However, members of the intelligence agencies who grilled Galib in the joint interrogation cell (JIC) remained tightlipped about the findings that they extracted from him. Meanwhile, a Naogaon court has granted the appeal of police to show Galib and his four associates arrested on charges of killing extremist Idris Ali Khejur of Simba in Raninagar, according to a BDNews report. Chief of Ahale Hadith Bangladesh and a Rajshahi University teacher, Galib was taken in for 10-day remand in a case filed with Gabtoli Police Station of Bogra under the Explosive Substances Act on the night of February 27. Three others -- Ahle Hadith Andolon Bangladesh (Ahab) Nayeb-e-Amir Shaikh Abdus Samad Salafi, Ahab General Secretary Moulana Nurul Islam and Organising Secretary ASM Azizullah are still being quizzed by the JIC. Our Bogra Correspondent reports that Galib was brought to Bogra under heavy escort at about 3:30pm and was sent within half an hour to Gaibandha district jail. A top police official in Bogra, who requested anonymity, said Galib will not be taken any time soon on a further remand in any other case. Our Gaibandha Correspondent adds: Galib will be produced before a court of Gaibandha in connection with two cases. He was shown arrested in a bomb attack on a open stage drama at Takier Bazar under Palashbari upazila on December 26, 2004 and a bomb attack at a Brac office at Mohimaganj in Gabindaganj upazila. Two people Habibur Rahman alias Jubayer and Raju Sarder admitted to police during interrogation while under remand that they are linked with Jama'atul Mujahedin and that Galib is their central leader. Galib and his three associates were arrested on February 23 from Rajshahi and shown arrested in five cases, including for murder, bomb attacks, and the robbery of various NGO offices in the four districts of Bogra, Gopalganj, Naogaon, and Sirajganj on February 26.
