Mazda, First Auto to launch joint sales firm in China

Japanese automaker Mazda Motor Corp. said Monday it has won Beijing's approval to set up a joint sales firm in China with First Auto Works (FAW) and FAW subsidiary FAW Car Co. Ltd.

The new company, FAW Mazda Motor Sales Co. Ltd., would begin operations in March and be based in the city of Changchun, in northeastern China, where FAWs head office is located, the Japanese company said.

The new venture would have sole distribution rights to all future Mazda-branded vehicles to be produced and sold in China, Mazda said.

Kiyoshi Ozaki, Mazda's senior managing executive officer, said: "This new joint venture is a very significant step forward for Mazdas expansion of its production base in China."
