Solo musical evening at Prabartana


Nari Grantha Prabartana held a solo musical soiree of Rupu Khan at its premises recently.

In the two-and-half-hours programme, Rupu Khan performed songs from a number of musical genres, including Rabindra Sangeet, Nazrul Sangeet, Lalon Geeti, songs of Hason Raja, Radharaman, Pagla Kanai, poet Jasimuddin, patriotic songs, folk and modern Bangla songs. She also sang some famous raga-based songs such as Kotha diye keno elena, Obhimaney choley jeyona and Chhondey chhondey gaaney gaaney. Besides, she sang songs of popular musicians of the country, including Khandoker Nurul Alam, Debu Bhattacharya, Khan Ataur Rahman and Satya Saha.

She finally performed five very popular folk songs written and tuned by her father Ustad Momtaz Ali Khan. The songs included Nishihey jaio phulo boney, Ei je duniya and Agey janinarey doyal.
