Bus Mishap
Six alleged robbers held


Police arrested six alleged highway robbers responsible for Friday night's Kushtia bound bus mishap that left eleven people killed.

Police said Jahurul Islam Bachchu, 25, Ghiashuddin Sharif, 20, Shafi Khan, 30, Malek Matubbar, 45, Ikhtiar, 25 and Zahangir Chokdar, 25, were picked up by Bhanga police on suspicion.

The robbers chased the Kushtia bound bus on Friday night in a bid to commit robbery. The bus fell into a roadside ditch when the driver tried to run his vehicle backgear to save the passengers. Eleven people including four lawyers of Kushtia Bar were killed in the accident.

The arrested were being interrogated by Bhanga Police.

Meanwhile, leaders of Bangladesh Bar Council yesterday expressed deep shock at the death of four lawyers and some of their family members.
