'Introduce physical edn at pry schools'


Speakers at a seminar yesterday urged the government to introduce physical education at primary schools that can help create best sportsmen and worthy citizen.

Physical Education Department of Uttara University organised the seminar on its campus, with Mohammad Khairul Islam Khan, student advisor of the department, in the chair.

Vice-chancellor of the university Dr M Azizur Rahman was present as chief guest and Dean of Education Yasmin Ara as special guest.

The speakers said physical education could provide a person the opportunity to be mentally and socially sound.

They observed that National Curriculum and Textbook Board (NCTB) should play a pioneering role in introducing physical education at primary level as an additional subject.

Noted physical educationist Abu Mohammad presented a keynote paper in the seminar on 'Implementation of physical education at primary level can play a pivotal role in making top level sportsmen in country.'

Educationist Kazi Abdul Alim, principal of the Govt Physical Education College, Mohammad Abdul Haq and former director of physical education M B Khan Majlish also spoke.
