Abductors held, girl not yet rescued

Police arrested three youths from Mirganj ferry terminal in Muladi in connection with the abduction of a schoolgirl from Dhaka on January 9. But the girl is yet to be rescued. Police said, Jerin Taslin Chura, 10, student of class four at Motijheel Government School in Dhaka was abducted when she was going to school. She is the daughter of Anwarul Islam of North Shahjahanpur area in the city. The victim's father had lodged a case with Motijheel police station on January 11 against Arif of Banimardan village in Muladi, Mehdi Hassan of Salia Bukpur of Banaripara and Sabuj of Begumganj of Noakhali. Acting on a tip off, Sub Inspector Md Abbas, who is also the investigation officer of the case arrested the three youths from the ferry terminal. Acting on their confession, police recovered clothes of the victim from the house of one Akbor Munshi of Muladi Bandar. Arif claimed that he had an affair with Jerin and they had planned to marry at Barisal on Thursday. The arrested youths are being interrogated.
