BRAC names training centre after Sufia Kamal


BRAC, a leading NGO, has named its human resource training center in Barisal after poet Begum Sufia Kamal.

The centre was opened on Wednesday through a simple function, attended by, among others, the poet's daughter Begum Sultana Kamal, BRAC Chairman Fazle Hassan Abed and Rani Bhattacharjee, president of Barisal Mohila Parishad.

Begum Sufia Kamal was chairperson of BRAC Governing Body for ten years from 1972. She hailed from Barisal.

Sultana Kamal donated to the centre some books written by her and her mother.

The center was constructed in Goriar Paar area in the city in 2002.The function was also attended by the elite of the city, NGO organisers and officials.
