Tk 40 lakh aid out of Tk 1.9 cr distributed

The authorities have so far distributed seed and fertiliser worth Tk 40 lakh out of Tk 1.90 crore under the government's Post Flood Rehabilitation Programme-2 in the district. A total of 42,000 flood affected marginal farmers were supposed to get the assistance by December 31 for Rabi crop cultivation. Sources said some district officials including the Deputy Commissioner have been asked to show cause by January 15 for the failure. Agriculture Extension Department (AED) sources said, they have prepared lists of affected farmers through chairmen of local Union Parishads. Agriculture Minister M K Anwar during his visit to Patuakhali on Sunday ordered the showcause, sources said.
