Asia Regional Women, Health Meet ends

Participants of the Asia Regional Women and Health Meeting decided to raise the pressing issues of violence against women and highlight the activities of women's rights organisations at the International Women Health Meeting in Delhi.

The three-day regional meeting that ended in Tangail on January 12 was a preparatory meeting for the international meeting to be held from September 21 to 25.

A total of 92 women's rights activists from home and other Asian countries took part in the regional meeting organised by Narigrantha Prabartana and Ubinig.

The meeting decided to focus on various societal problems such as early marriage and dowry, which have an effect on women's health, said Farida Akhtar, executive director of Narigrantha Prabartana, at a press conference in the city on Thursday.
