Steps taken to modernise land record system

The government has taken steps to modernise the land registration and record keeping system, said Law Minister Moudud Ahmed yesterday."The authorities concerned earned Tk 1,500 crore from land registration last year," he said while addressing the annual conference of Bangladesh Registration Service Association in the city. State Minister for Law Shahjahan Omar was present as special guest. President of the Association Abdul Ahad, Law Secretary Alauddin Sarder, senior officials of the ministry and leaders of the association also addressed the function. Moudud Ahmed said the land registration process and its format have been made easy. "The process would be further automated with introduction of computer-based system." He called on the sub-registrars to play a major role in reducing land-related disputes across the country. The registration officers can also protect the common people from the registration-related hassles, he added.
