Maradona wins Greek hearts

Former Argentine superstar Diego Maradona said Thursday that the Greek national team winning the Euro 2004 title last summer was a "miracle." "There are always miracles in football. Greece beat everybody and it is always good for football when small teams win championships. This shows that this small country has good players," an overweight Maradona told reporters at Athens airport. Maradona was in Greece to give an interview with a private Greek television station. "The people should keep their enthusiasm for football and this was great what happened in Greece. There are a lot of negative things in football, but that what happened in Euro 2004 was great for all."
