Manik Saha's first anniversary of death today

Khulna journalists will today observe the first death anniversary of Manik Saha, Khulna correspondent of The New Age and a stringer of BBC who was killed in a bomb attack near the press club on January 15 last year.

Khulna press club will bring out a silent procession and hold a discussion meeting in memory of the slain journalist.

Manik Saha Smriti Parishad, Communist Party of Bangladesh, Jubo Union and Chhatra Union will hold mourning procession, public meeting and blood donation programme separately to observe the day.

It is alleged that planners of and financiers to the murder have been left out of the chargesheet submitted to the court against 13 Purbo Banglar Communist Party (PBCP) outlaws.

Of them, two outlaws, Abdur Rashid alias Tapu of PBCP (M-L) and Altaf of PBCP (Janajuddho), were killed in encounters with police last year.

Depositions of ten prosecution witnesses have so far been recorded in the speedy trial tribunal, Khulna, where the case is under trial.
