"We will announce the programme after the Eid-ul-Azha," Awami League General Secretary Abdul Jalil MP said yesterday, as the AL-led 14-party opposition prepared for countrywide demonstrations today protesting fuel price hike.

Talking to the news agency, the AL leader said the opposition parties are united on their 9-point demand, including resignation of the government for fresh elections.

About the reported differences with the CPB, he said: "We have differences and similarity on some points, but both of us are in agreement on the 9-point demand."

Jalil said the alliance government has shattered all state structures and made public life unbearable. Human-wall programmes were manifestation of people's outbursts against all these.

The AL general secretary said the nation is clearly divided into two camps, one led by pro-liberation and another by anti-liberation forces. He alleged the ruling BNP is leading the anti-liberation forces.

"We are trying to forge the unity of pro-liberation forces," he said and blamed the BNP-led ruling alliance for 'distorting' history and acting against the spirit of the War of Independence.
